Rebecca McCord is a multi-faceted pianist, having performed as solo recitalist, chamber musician, duo pianist, and soloist with over 30 orchestras in the United States, Europe, and Asia. Making her debut at the age of nine, Dr. McCord was a prize winner in over twenty competitions.

During her undergraduate years, she studied at Oklahoma City University, Juilliard School of Music in New York, and the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. She studied with Barry Snyder and earned a Masters and Doctorate in Piano Performance and Literature, as well as the prestigious Performer’s Certificate from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York where she was named a Leopold Schepp Scholar.

In 2012, the main music hall at Sweet Briar College was dedicated in her honor, and in 2013, she was named Professor Emerita of Sweet Briar after 28 years on their music faculty at Sweet Briar.

Dr. McCord has premiered several works written expressly for her, and in September 2022, the Eastman School of Music honored her during their Centennial Celebrations with an annual Piano Scholarship in her name.

Dr. McCord has twice been awarded the Artist-in-Residence position at La Cité des Arts in Paris. She hasserved on the jury panels of several international piano competitions, including the Hong Kong Music  Festival, the Bloch Young Artist, and the Naftzger Young Artist Competitions.
